The Beacon is a much loved and valued local nature reserve which sits on the doorstep to Bodmin and within a 5 minute walk to the town centre.

From the top of the Beacon, where the 144 foot tall Gilbert’s Monument sits proudly over the landscape, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding Cornish countryside, before taking a leisurely stroll around the Reserve and its hidden lanes which are carefully managed to promote wildlife. A walk through the Beacon wood will transport visitors from the open hilltop scenery into the shaded, tree covered walks where butterflies can be spotted absorbing the warming rays of the sun while at rest.

The Beacon is a Green Flag Award winning site and is a great place to unwind, have a picnic in one of the wildflower meadows and to listen to the bird song on a lazy summer’s day.
